I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and enjoyed this unusually warm weather. How did everyone do during week 1 of the challenge? I hope this is the start of a new, fitter and healthier you. A challenge like this is positive in so many ways. It helps us break out of that comfort zone and try something new. For many of you it's something you are able to do with your spouse, significant other, child or your entire family. For most of us, we didn't expect spring to come quite so quickly. Anyone out there think twice about putting on a tank top this weekend?
I'm challenging everyone to take a before picture flexing those pipes, or lack there of. Tape that picture right to your training schedule and put it somewhere you will see it everyday. When you have completed your push ups for that day, put an "X" through the day. You will be able to visualize how much closer you are getting to the end.
The biggest question that I have had so far is how much rest time should we take between sets. At this point everyone is going to be different. But I would say a 30 sec. rest between sets is adequate for these first few weeks. No one should be doing 1 push up in the morning, 1 at lunch, 1 at dinner, etc... You will not build muscle that way. Especially when we are only doing 5 push ups total. For the first 4 weeks you should try and complete all sets in about 5 minutes. As we increase the reps, things are going to get harder and you may need to increase your rest time up to 2 minutes.
I know that everyone immediately jumped to the end and saw the 2nd to last day has 3 sets of 98 push ups. I guarantee I will be doing 98 in the morning, 98 at noon, and 98 at night. If you are faithful to this program and continue with me for the full 12 weeks I don't care how you get through those 3 sets of 98.
Good luck this week. I have never met some of you so I would love to hear your story about why you chose to do this challenge. I would also love to see some of those before pics!
Oh, and we have 97 people doing this challenge. How awesome is that??!! I just need 3 more...spread the word for me.

So far I've been doing equal reps of sit-ups between the push-ups. I'm going to see if I can do the same thing with sit-ups, but they are much harder for me...
